Progress Report: 3 Months Out

A month since I've been in touch with most of you. We've been getting a lot done, though!

First, check out the Greek Play Masks blog to see what Naomi and I have been up to in summer research. She'll post again soon with pictures of our first tests of adding an interior skullcap structure to a full birdseye weave cotton mask. Still to go: sound testing with different size mouth openings (faces provided by our friend Riggsy).

Next, I'm thrilled to report that the set is taking shape--two modular stories of it!--on the Thoresen stage. Paul and Dariana are putting in a lot of work, and it looks like there'll be a solid set for the crew to disassemble and put back together in the Dell as soon as school starts.

With a couple more songs to record, my better half and I are hopeful that we'll get CDs in the mail soon after the 4th. (I've discovered a new respect for Britney Spears.)

And have a look at our new poster image: (Thanks again to the husband.)

We'll get that up soon to CafePress, where it can join our first pubicly available promotional materials. (Thanks much to Dave.)

Ash is looking to get started on the costumes even now. Here's her first drawing for Socrates:

So remind me, who's willing (and able) to sew over the next couple months?

We're changing the show time to 4pm, the better to facilitate making the Friday show part of an "X-citin' Chiton Greek Weekend" (or something like that). The plan is to get other colleges to show up and party after the show--I think DOS is already booking a band.

I'm looking for suggestions on using this blog.

And don't forget to be working on those lines!

Beginning the Greek Play Blog

Things will heat up here when we begin rehearsals for The Clouds, which will be performed on the campus of Randolph-Macon Woman's College October 6, 7, and 8, 2006.

In the meantime, follow our progress as we conduct research into the history and future of Greek theatrical masks.
